Redshirt-sophomore goalkeeper
Emma Albee made a career-high eight saves and sophomore
Lilly Cantabene recorded her second career hat trick as the Shippensburg University field hockey team was able to get past homestanding IUP on Saturday, 3-0, at Miller Stadium.
Â
Shippensburg (13-3, 7-1 PSAC) only managed four shots on goal against IUP (7-4, 4-4), yet Cantabene converted three of them into goals. Making her third start of the season, Cantabene scored twice in a 2:40 span of the first quarter to give the Raiders a 2-0 lead just seven minutes in. She completed her hat trick with just more than 10 minutes remaining.
Â
Albee made multiple saves in each of the first three quarters, including five in the first half, in recording her fifth shutout of the season. It's the second 3-0 shutout of the Crimson Hawks this season, as the Raiders also won back on a hideously rainy Sunday in mid-September back at Robb Sports Complex.
Â
In addition to having an 8-4 advantage in shots on goal, the Crimson Hawks finished with an 11-5 edge in penalty corners. IUP also out-cornered the Raiders back in September, 7-5.
Â
Shippensburg does not have a mid-week game next week; its next contest will be at noon next Saturday when it hosts Mercyhurst for Senior Day at Robb Sports Complex.
