SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University field hockey team concluded the regular season Saturday with a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) victory over Mercyhurst, 10-1, on a sunny and warm Senior Day at Robb Sports Complex.

Shippensburg (14-3, 9-1) scored five goals in the first quarter to set the tone, including two goals in the opening 3:24 and four goals in a 7:20 span. SU's 10 goals are its most in a match since the 2021 season.

Sophomore Agus Garibaldi opened the scoring less than two minutes in off an assist from junior Tess Jedeloo by converting an attack through the middle of the scoring circle off a penalty corner.

Garibaldi posted her first hat trick of the season and the third of her career; she also earned an assist on SU's fourth goal of the first quarter when sophomore Taryn Mayer tipped in her shot.

Jedeloo finished with a career-high nine points, recording her third hat trick of the season while handing out a career-high three assists. She scored SU's second, third and sixth goals of the game. It is the first time a Raider has recorded three assists in a game since Maura Mears did so last season against Limestone.

Freshman Savannah Silvestre recorded two assists by virtue of her penalty corner inserts – SU scored goals on four of its six penalty corners in the first quarter, including a penalty stroke converted by freshman Mckenna Boyle.

Mercyhurst (2-14, 0-9) scored in the opening two minutes of the second quarter when Ellie Schau skillfully finished a feed from Maddie Huffer to make the score 5-1.

SU led 6-1 at halftime and then erupted for two goals in the opening 65 seconds of the third quarter. Garibaldi scored from Jedeloo just 34 seconds in, and 29 seconds later, junior Yasmin De Meyer scored in her first game back by caging another pass from Jedeloo.

Freshman Hannah White had a goal, an assist and a defensive save in the contest. White's goal was assisted by junior Nya Gilchrist, who set up the tally with a pass while lying on the turf in front of the goal.

The Raiders fired 33 shots on goal, and Mercyhurst keeper Kayla Desormeau put forth a strong effort in the Laker cage. She finished with 19 saves, while defenders Jen Kemp and Morgan Cole each made two defensive saves.

Senior Lindsay Tripodo earned the start in goal and made two saves in 30 minutes of action, working the bookend quarters. Redshirt-sophomore Emma Albee turned away three of the four shots she faced while working the middle quarters.

In its pregame ceremony, the team feted seven seniors: Jocelyn Branco, Paige Graber, Mya Kemp, Valu Paul, Chloe Prettyman, Morgan Saunders and Tripodo.

The Raiders finish the regular season as the No. 2 seed in next week's PSAC Tournament. It is the third consecutive year and the seventh time in the last eight seasons overall that SU has reached the conference semifinals.

Shippensburg will next play Friday at East Stroudsburg against either No. 3 seed Kutztown or No. 6 seed IUP. The game will be played at East Stroudsburg's Whitenight Field.
