SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University women's soccer team dropped a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division match to Lock Haven, 2-1, on Wednesday night at David See Field.
Shippensburg (1-12-0, 1-10-0 PSAC East) was trailing 2-0 in the second half when a foul in the box occurred while the Raiders were about to attempt a free kick from a separate foul. Freshman
Gabrielle Walker converted the penalty for her first collegiate goal and it got SU within a goal with 11 minutes remaining.
The goal came shortly after Lock Haven (4-8-1, 3-7-1) had made it 2-0, as a corner kick from Jocey Francis found the head of Julia Haines. The Bald Eagles led for all but the first 82 seconds; LHU took a 1-0 lead early when Eva Stoessel tapped the ball into the bottom right corner of the goal to finish a free kick from Trinity Seaman.
The Raiders held a 5-4 advantage in shots on goal and a 7-5 lead in corners but were unable to achieve the season sweep of the Bald Eagles.
Morgan Molyneaux made two saves for Shippensburg.
SU is back in action at 7 p.m. Saturday at Mansfield.
