COMPLETE RESULTS

The Shippensburg University men's swimming team achieved multiple season bests and delivered a slew of solid performances Saturday at the Bison Winter Invite hosted by Bucknell University at Kinney Natatorium.

The main goal of Saturday was to afford competition in an invitational meet against the likes of Division I Patriot League schools such as Lehigh, Lafayette, American and host Bucknell while continuing training for the league championships – which are about a fortnight away.

Shippensburg achieved a total of 18 individual performances that satisfied the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships qualifying standards.

Junior Michael Salvatori continued his momentum with a new season best of 4:46.72. Salvatori also tied graduate Andrew Hale in the 200-yard freestyle; both swimmers touched the wall in 1:46.41. Salvatori also paced the Raiders in the 200-yard butterfly, taking seventh in 1:58.00 for another new season best, and last but not least, shaved three seconds off his season and team best in the 400-yard IM with a time of 4:08.72.

Hale was also in strong form, crushing it in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 58.63 seconds. His 200-yard individual medley (IM) was also on point, finishing eighth in 1:56.93.

Graduate Vin Salvatore and sophomore Nathan VanNatter swam 2:18 in the 200-yard breaststroke. The performance is a new season best by five seconds. Freshman Nate Wauls and VanNatter each delivered solid times of 1:01 in the 100-yard breaststroke.

Senior Alec Burger (55.34), freshman Kevin Noldy (55.98) and senior David Bussard (56.30) delivered PSAC cuts in the 100-yard backstroke; Bussard also impressed in the 200-yard backstroke with an eighth-place time of 2:01.48.

Saturday marked the final competition of the regular season for the Raiders. The 2023 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships will be held Feb. 15-18 and are scheduled for the Graham Aquatic Center (YMCA) in York.
