The Shippensburg University men's basketball team improved to 11-3 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) on Saturday after defeating Lock Haven in an Eastern Division matchup on Saturday, 72-61.
Shippensburg (13-7, 11-3 PSAC) made eight three-pointers in its victory over Lock Haven (13-6, 9-5), marking the eighth time this season the Raiders have made eight three-pointers in a game. Saturday also helped SU avenge a brutal loss last season at Thomas Fieldhouse, a game LHU won 79-67 in overtime.
The Bald Eagles kept pace with Shippensburg for much of the first half before SU went on a 15-5 run toward the end of first half and led 34-25 at halftime.
Lock Haven was able to battle back in the second half, narrowing the Raider lead to just five points with 11:50 remaining. Shippensburg then went on a 17-3 run that lasted from the 11:34 mark until the 5:06 mark in the second half.
SU held Lock Haven to its second-lowest point total of the season and shut the Bald Eagles down from outside the arc. LHU went just 3-for-14 from three-point range, its lowest percentage against a PSAC opponent this season.
