EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University men's basketball team dropped a physical contest on Saturday afternoon to Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division rival East Stroudsburg, 65-52, inside an energetic Koehler Fieldhouse.
Shippensburg (13-8, 11-4 PSAC) managed to hold the nations' fourth-best scoring offense to just 65 points – its lowest point total at home this season. The last time these two teams played, the Warriors scored 108 points.
Despite 16 turnovers in the first half, SU held East Stroudsburg (17-5, 11-5) to just 10-of-40 (25 percent) shooting in the first 20 minutes and only trailed by six points, 27-21.
The Raiders kept things close to start the second half until ESU went on an 18-3, that included four three-pointers and 14 total points from Lakeem McAliley.
Graduate
Dom Sleva led Shippensburg with 15 points and 13 rebounds, registering his Division II-leading 13th double-double of the season.
Senior
Carlos Carter also finished the night with ten points and hauled in seven rebounds. He went 2-3 from beyond that arc.
Junior
Ty Holsopple played some key minutes for the Raiders, playing the final three minutes of the first half after graduate
Luke Nedrow got into foul trouble. Holsopple had four points and three rebounds.
There were a combined 33 fouls called in the matchup, 17 on the Raiders and 16 on the Warriors. East Stroudsburg's Carlos Pepin and Shamir Johnson both received technical fouls during the game.
The Raider defense limited the Warriors to 32.3 percent shooting from the field. SU committed 26 turnovers, its most in a game since Feb. 16, 2013 when it committed 27 against ESU.
Shippensburg returns home to Heiges Field House on Monday as they take on another divisional rival, West Chester. Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m.
