SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University women's basketball team remained undefeated at home on Saturday as it defeated Mansfield, 70-48, in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division matchup at Heiges Field House.
 
Shippensburg (13-2, 8-1) held Mansfield (1-12, 0-10) to just nine points in the second quarter to gain a 12-point lead heading into halftime. The Raiders kept the lead the remainder of the match, holding the Mountaineers just below their scoring average.
 
SU had five players finish in double figures for the second time in the last three games. Senior Ariel Jones led all scorers with 16 points. She added seven rebounds, two assists and tied her career high in steals with six.
 
Senior Lauren Pettis posted her third consecutive double-double and seventh this season with 14 points and 13 rebounds. Junior Treasure George added 13 points and nine rebounds; it continues her streak of at least nine points in every game this season.
 
Sophomores Taja Colbert and Abbie Miller each contributed 10 points. It was Colbert's third game in double figures this season and Miller's fourth.
 
Freshman Makayla Foddrell came off the bench contributing five points and four rebounds. Graduate Erin Gibbons led the team in assists with four.
 
Shippensburg forced 27 Mansfield turnovers. The Raiders also outrebounded the Mountaineers to a 47-36 advantage.
 
SU also finished with 48 points in the paint – equaling the number of total points in the game by Mansfield. The Mounties got 24 points from their starters and 24 points from their bench – reserve Cydney Stanton led the visitors with 11 points.
 
The Raiders are on the road Wednesday to take on Bloomsburg at 5:30pm.
