Shippensburg, Pa. – The Shippensburg University women's soccer team was unable to find the back of the net as it fell to No. 13 Kutztown, 1-0, in a tough match Saturday at David See Field.
Shippensburg (0-3-0, 0-2-0 PSAC East) best chance at a goal in the first half came off a free kick from graduate forward
Alexis Worley, but Kutztown goalkeeper Emme Wolfel came up with the save.
The game was tied 0-0 until the 52nd minute when Kutztown forward Becca Delp found the net giving the Golden Bears the lead.
In the final five minutes, sophomore
Olivia Stephen went just wide on a shot that would have tied the game for the Raiders.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Morgan Molyneaux tallied three saves in the contest.
Kutztown (3-0-0, 2-0-0) is the second straight nationally-ranked team that Shippensburg has faced this season. The Raiders held their own, but just couldn't hang on.
The Raiders are back at David See Field for another PSAC East matchup on Wednesday, Sept. 3 vs. Millersville.
