The No. 2-ranked Shippensburg University field hockey team scored goals in all four quarters on Sunday as it defeated Limestone, 9-0, at Saints Field, Gaffney, SC.
Shippensburg (6-0) dominated possession and posted lopsided advantages in shots on goal (33-3) and penalty corners (21-2). Sophomores
Lindsay Tripodo and
Emma Albee combined for the shutout in goal.
Offensively, sophomore
Tess Jedeloo started the scoring for the Raiders off a penalty corner insert pass from senior
Maura Mears. Jedeloo quickly intercepted Limestones (1-3) defense line not even 20 seconds after scoring the goal to score her second goal of the day.
Sophomore
Valu Paul scored the third goal for the Raiders in less than six minutes later. Paul scored another one in the third quarter off an assist by freshman
Agus Garibaldi and had an assist on a goal by sophomore
Mya Kemp. Garibaldi scored her eight goal of the season with a reverse shot to the bottom right corner of the cage off a pass from sophomore
Yasmin De Meyer.
Freshman defender
Savannah Silvestre scored her first two collegiate goals. Both of her goals came from a penalty corners taken by Mears. Sophomore
Emilia Conners also scored her first collegiate goal as she dribbled all the way into the circle for a goal from the 23-meter line.
Mears ended the afternoon with a career-high three assists, the most by a Raider since
Jenna Sluymer's three assists against IUP on Nov. 3, 2018 and
Jazmin Petrantonio's six assists against Millersville on Sept. 12, 2017.
Shippensburg returns to action next Sunday at noon against Converse at Robb Sports Complex.
