SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The No. 1 Shippensburg University field hockey team used a strong start on the second quarter to get past Mount Olive, 4-1, in a non-conference matchup at Robb Sports Complex on a cloudy Saturday.

Shippensburg (3-0) scored two quick goals from sophomore
Tess Jedeloo in three minutes of play in the second quarter. Sophomore
Yasmin De Meyer scored her first goal for the Raiders off a deflection shot by freshman
Agus Garibaldi.

Mount Olive (0-3) reduced the deficit to two goals after a reverse hit goal by Nikki Bos. SU bounced back in the fourth quarter with a reverse hit by Garibaldi at the top of the circle which was then deflected by a Trojan defender and into the back of the cage. Garibaldi finished today with two assists.Â

Shippensburg had a 9-4 shots on goal advantage, and a 12-3 penalty corner advantage. Sophomore
Lindsay Tripodo had three saves in goal, while UMO goalkeeper had five saves.

The Raiders will be back on Wednesday at 3 p.m. for their first conference matchup against Mansfield.
