The Shippensburg University women's soccer team was unable to solve Frostburg State in its 2022 season opener on Friday night, dropping a 4-0 decision to the Bobcats in a match held at the Maryland Soccer Plex.
Shippensburg (0-1-0) managed just one shot on goal in the contest, while goalkeeper
Kendra Barlow was credited with two saves.
Frostburg State (1-0-0), picked first in the Mountain East Conference North Division preseason coaches' poll after a 12-win season in 2021, scored twice in each half to achieve the victory. Shot on goal were 6-1 in favor of the Bobcats.
Shippensburg opens its Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division schedule next week by facing the two teams that were picked atop the preseason coaches' poll. The Raiders travel to West Chester at 2 p.m. Wednesday before hosting Kutztown at 2:30 p.m. Saturday.
