SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. -- The Shippensburg University lacrosse team came up short against No. 7 West Chester on a sunny Saturday afternoon at Robb Sports Complex, losing 21-9 to the Golden Rams in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division match on 'Rise For Wise' Day.
Shippensburg (2-10, 0-7 PSAC East) scored two goals early in the second quarter and was within 8-4 of West Chester (9-1, 6-1) when the Golden Rams called a timeout. WCU responded with three straight goals and took a 12-6 lead into halftime before out-scoring the Raiders 7-0 in the third quarter.

Hannah Seifried recorded her eight hat trick of the season and the 19th of her career. Seifried also had eight of SU's 16 draw controls, finishing one short of her season high.

KiKi Brasher had one save while working the final four-plus minutes.
West Chester received dynamic performances from Lindsay Monigle (five goals, five assists) and Hannah Stanislawczyk (four goals, three assists, nine draw controls). Keri Barnett also scored five goals for the Golden Rams while Jessica Gorr made 15 saves.
Saturday's game was played in honor of the late Julia Wise '17, a former lacrosse captain who battled metastatic Stage 4 breast cancer for four years. The team collected donations toward METAvivor, a national organization for metastatic breast cancer research, support and awareness. You can visit metavivor.org and click donate to support the cause. Shippensburg will host Shepherd at 4 p.m. Wednesday for a divisional clash at Robb Sports Complex.
