SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University lacrosse team used a dominant first half on Wednesday to pick up its first conference victory of the season, defeating Shepherd 16-10 in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division matchup at Robb Sports Complex.

Shippensburg (3-10, 1-7 PSAC East) erupted for five goals in the first quarter and six in the second quarter, including twice in the final 30 seconds of the opening half, to take an 11-3 lead at the intermission. Shepherd (4-8, 2-6) would only get as close as five goals of the Raiders during the second half.

The Raiders got dynamic offensive efforts from three of its seniors:
Hannah Seifried,
Alana Cardaci and
Jena MacDonald. The trio combined for 12 goals and nine assists in Wednesday's victory.

MacDonald scored on a free position and had a career-high six assists, which ties her with Lindsey Kennedy (2010-13) for the school career record of 94 assists. It is the sixth time that MacDonald has recorded three or more assists in a game this season, and her 32 assists through 13 games mark a new single-season high.

Seifried scored five goals, had two assists, won five draw controls, picked up four groundballs and had a caused turnover. Her seven points are a new single-game career high. It is her ninth hat trick of the season and the sixth time this season she has scored four or more goals in a game. It is the eighth time this season that Seifried has recorded five or more draw controls in a game.

Cardaci went off for a season-high six goals and had an assist for a seven-point effort. It is the most goals she has scored in a game since her sophomore season in 2019 and the fourth time in her career she has scored six or more goals in a game. It is her fourth hat trick of the season, and Cardaci now sits fifth all-time in school history with 143 career goals.

Kayla Vosburg also had a strong effort in the cage, recording a career-high 17 saves en route to her first victory. Vosburg made 10 saves in the first half and limited the Rams to just 4-of-12 on free-position attempts in the contest.

Sara Vosburg finished with three points (two goals and an assist) along with two groundballs and a draw control. Sophomore
Bailey Krahl scored twice and senior
Sydney Costanza had an assist.

Clairanne Chairs was among the leaders on a strong Raider defensive unit; Chairs finished with two caused turnovers and had three groundballs.
