SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University softball team dropped its home-opening doubleheader on Saturday in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) crossover set against Seton Hill by scores of 2-1 and 4-1 at Robb Field.

Shippensburg (11-7) totaled 10 hits in the doubleheader but could only scratch two runs across the plate – both on solo home runs from junior
Hannah Marsteller. Seton Hill (18-3) had 15 hits on the day and committed only one error; the Griffins benefited from four Raider errors and seven walks.Â

Sophomore
Morgan Lindsay had three hits and a walk in the doubleheader, and freshman
Emma Mackulin had two hits.

Shippensburg will host Seton Hill for another doubleheader at 1 p.m. tomorrow at Robb Field.

Game 1: Seton Hill 2, Shippensburg 1

Seton Hill took a 2-0 lead in the fourth inning and never trailed. The lone SU run came from Marsteller's home run in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Redshirt-sophomore
Maddie Uschock threw 3.1 innings allowing two runs on four hits. Sophomore
Emma Flattery came in as the relief pitcher and threw 3.2 innings, allowing three hits and one walk and struck out five Griffins.
Game 2: Seton Hill 4, Shippensburg 1

Seton Hill took a 1-0 lead in the second inning and was held scoreless by the Raiders until the fifth inning, when it scored three more runs. Marsteller opened the bottom of the seventh inning with a solo home run into left-center field.

Freshman
Alicia Ball threw 4.1 innings allowing four runs on five hits and two walks. Fellow freshman
Katelyn Minney moved from right field to the circle and threw 2.2 innings and allowed three hits and struck out two.
