SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University softball team concluded its four-game series against Seton Hill on Sunday with a pair of losses to the Griffins, falling by scores of 3-1 and 7-2 at Robb Field.Â

Shippensburg (11-9) totaled 11 hits in the doubleheader but could not take advantage of a two-hit advantage in Game 1 and having the bases loaded twice in Game 2 but scoring no runs. Seton Hill (20-3) had 15 hits on the day and committed no errors.

Junior
Hannah Marsteller had three hits, including a solo home run in Game 2 two, a double in Game 1 and a walk. Fellow junior
Taylor Radziewicz had two hits. Senior
Morgan DeFeo had two hits (including a double) and an RBI.

Shippensburg will host Wilmington for a doubleheader at 2 p.m. on Wednesday at Robb Field.

Game 1: Seton Hill 3, Shippensburg 1

Game 1 started in the midst of heavy snow flurries. Seton Hill took a 1-0 lead in the first inning when a run scored on a wild pitch. The Raiders tied the game at 1-1 in the fourth inning after Marsteller doubled to left field and freshman
Katelyn Minney singled to score Marsteller.

The Griffins responded with back-to-back home runs by Jenna Osikowicz and Morgan Ryan in the fifth inning to take back the lead.

Sophomore
Emma Flattery started in the circle for the Raiders. Flattery threw 4.1 innings, allowing four hits and struck out four. Fellow sophomore
Maelynn Leber came in as the relief pitcher and threw 2.2 innings and struck out two.
Game 2: Seton Hill 7, Shippensburg 2

Shippensburg had an opportunity to take the lead in the bottom of the first with bases loaded but could not take advantage. Seton Hill took a 2-0 lead in the top of the second, scoring on a single and an error by the Raiders.

The Raiders found some momentum in the fourth inning after DeFeo doubled to left field to score freshman
Emma Mackulin. Griffin pitcher Chloe Elliott escaped another bases-loaded jam with a strikeout for the third out, with Marsteller waiting in the on-deck circle. Marsteller opened the bottom of the fifth inning with a solo home run into left-center field to close the deficit to 4-2.

Leber stayed in as the starting pitcher for the Raiders in Game 2 and threw 2.1 innings, allowing five hits and striking out three. Freshman
Alicia Ball was one of three relief pitchers that came in for the Raiders. Ball threw 2.0 innings, while redshirt-sophomore
Maddie Uschock threw 1.2 innings and struck out one. Senior
Tressa Kagarise got the final three outs.
