The Shippensburg University baseball team lost both games of a doubleheader on Saturday, falling to host Belmont Abbey by scores of 12-3 and 10-5 at the Abbey Yard.

Shippensburg (0-3) got three hits each from graduate
JuJu Cason and freshman
Carter Hinds. However, the Raiders yielded seven runs to Belmont Abbey (4-0) in the first inning of Game 1 and four runs in the first inning of Game 2 and could not overcome the early deficits.

Game 1: Belmont Abbey 12, Shippensburg 3

Cason was 2-for-2 with a walk and a two-run homer in the seventh inning. SU also scored a run in the sixth on a wild pitch.

Sophomore
Kaleb Sophy got the start and struck out two in three innings. Redshirt-freshman
Ray Winter struck out three and only allowed one hit in three scoreless innings of relief.

All of Belmont Abbey's 12 runs were unearned. Alex Sniffen struck out 11 and only gave up two base runners in five innings. Sean Johnson had one hit, one run scored and three RBIs. Conner Tucker and Patrick Taylor both one hit and two RBIs.

Hinds was 2-for-4 with a stolen base and a run scored while sophomore
Jackson LoBianco went 2-for-3 with double, a walk and an RBI.

Gabe Stotler pitched 4.2 innings and finished with six strikeouts.

Redshirt-freshman
Cameron Goble struck out four in 1.2 innings of relief, while sophomore
Ethan Miller struck out three in 1.2 innings of relief.

Grant Lohmeier pitched four innings for the win, allowing one run. Brendan Simonds struck out five in two innings.

Ben Gobbel went 4-for-4 with a double, RBI and three runs scored. Ben Ferguson went 2-for-2 with two walks, a home run and four RBIs.
