SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University women's basketball team ended 2022 by dominating Clarion, 64-44, in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) crossover matchup Friday night at Heiges Field House.
Shippensburg (9-2, 4-1 PSAC) built a 20-9 lead after the first quarter and led from start to finish. Senior
Ariel Jones led all players with 25 points, grabbed four rebounds and had a team-high five steals – one short of her career high. Jones hit four three-pointers, with her first of the night being number 200 of her career.

Treasure George scored 11 points, including 2-3 from the three-point line. Senior
Lauren Pettis grabbed seven boards and added eight points. Graduate
Mya Woodyard and sophomore
Abbie Miller each contributed six points and two assists.
Graduate
Erin Gibbons added two points and dished out three assists in her 100th collegiate game. Off the bench, freshman
Ellie Goodwin contributed two points and three rebounds and junior
Carolina Sanchez added three points and two rebounds.
Clarion (2-8, 2-3) was led by guard Sierra Bermudez with 11 points.
The Raiders scored 19 points off turnovers and held the Golden Eagles to just five points and 14 percent shooting (2-of-14) in the fourth quarter.
Shippensburg starts the new year at 6 p.m. Wednesday when it takes on East Stroudsburg at Heiges Field House.
