SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University men's basketball team ended 2022 in the win column after beating the Clarion Golden Eagles on Friday night, 78-52, in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) crossover matchup inside Heiges Field House.

Shippensburg (6-5, 4-1 PSAC) spread the scoring throughout the roster, with four different Raiders recording double-digit points.

Senior Carlos Carter led the way with 20 points, his 10th career game with at least 20 points and his 50th career game in double figures.

It was a back-and-forth contest for the first 10 minutes, with both teams trading buckets to keep it a one-possession game. It wasn't until the 9:30 mark of the first half that SU began to pull away, when a Carter layup began an 11-4 run for Shippensburg.

The Raiders ended the first half up 42-30 over Clarion (2-9, 0-5 PSAC). The Golden Eagles couldn't fight their way back in the second half as the Raiders held Clarion to 33.3 percent shooting and just 1-of-6 from beyond the arc.

Graduate Dom Sleva registered his seventh double-double of the season, dropping 15 points and hauling in 14 rebounds. Sleva's consistent scoring in the paint helped Shippensburg end the night shooting 50.9 percent from the field.

Graduate Luke Nedrow contributed all around for SU, scoring 14 points, grabbing six rebounds and recording four assists.

The Raiders had scoring from the bench as well, with sophomore Michael Dunn recording ten points, including two deep threes in the second half.

Shippensburg's defensive style helped them to out-rebound Clarion 40-to-28.

SU begins the new year with a divisional match-up against vaunted rival East Stroudsburg on Wednesday, January 4. Tip-off inside Heiges Field House is set for 8 p.m.
