The Shippensburg University volleyball team put up another thrilling five-set win against East Stroudsburg in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern division matchup on Saturday afternoon at Koehler Fieldhouse. Set scores were 20-25, 25-23, 25-17, 21-25, 15-12.
Shippensburg (14-11, 6-4 PSAC East) had four players posting double-digit kills. Sophomore
Maddie Clabaugh led the team with 18 kills, a career-high five blocks (four block solos, one block assists) and five digs. Senior
Rachel Verhoef and sophomore
Kat Negron both had 16 kills each. It is Verhoef's eight double-digit kills match this season and Negron's sixth double-digit kills this season.
Senior
Oyinda Agbale had her ninth double-digit kills this season with 12 kills and added a block assist. Sophomore
Emily Gardner was one short again from reaching her first double-double this season with nine kills and a team-high 14 digs. Freshman setter
Kearstin Davis tied her career high of 56 assists, it is her third match this season with 50+ assists in a match; she also added 12 digs. Redshirt-senior
Alex Leitner added 10 digs.
The Raiders outswung East Stroudsburg (12-11, 6-4), .286 to .238 and had a hitting efficiency of .412 in the second set with 15 kills and only one error. Coming into the weekend, East Stroudsburg was ranked at the top of the Eastern Division standings, but the Raiders are now tied for second in the league standings.
Shippensburg will stay on the road next weekend for its last conference road games, starting at Bloomsburg on Friday at 6 p.m.
