The Shippensburg University women's basketball team could not overcome a slow start on Saturday afternoon as East Stroudsburg posted a 62-43 victory over the Raiders in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division match at Koehler Fieldhouse.
Shippensburg (10-8, 6-6 PSAC) trailed by 24 points at halftime as East Stroudsburg (2-15, 1-13) limited the Raiders to seven points in the first quarter and to 27 percent shooting from the field. The Warriors led by as many as 29 points in the contest.
Sophomore
Treasure George was the lone Raider in double figures with 17 points. She added seven rebounds, three assists and three steals.
Junior
Lauren Pettis scored seven points and added three rebounds and two blocks. Fellow junior
Aunbrielle Green was 4-of-6 from the free-throw line and was the team's leading rebounder with nine on the day.
East Stroudsburg shot 6-of-13 (46 percent) from three-point range in the first half and 44 percent overall from the field. The Warriors had a 15-5 advantage in assists while the Raiders posted a 37-35 rebound advantage.
Ryan Wiese recorded a triple-double of 10 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists. Izzy Vogel led the Warriors with 18 points.
Shippensburg is back in action at 7 p.m. Monday when it hosts Seton Hill at Heiges Field House.
