HARRISONBURG, Va. – Senior
Jazmin Petrantonio scored all five goals on Wednesday afternoon as the No. 1 Shippensburg University field hockey team dominated Belmont Abbey, posting a 5-0 shutout at the James Madison University Complex.
Â
Shippensburg (3-0) and Belmont Abbey (3-1) played to a 1-0 score at halftime, with the lone goal being a Petrantonio tally 3:52 into the contest. The Raiders were trying to connect passes, and the Crusaders played an aggressive game.
Â
After halftime, Petrantonio scored two goals in the third quarter and two more in the fourth quarter, marking her 11th career hat trick. It is the second time this season and the fourth time in her career that she has scored five or more goals in a game.Â
Â
Shippensburg finished with a 13-0 advantage in shots on goal and 8-0 advantage in corners, preventing the Crusaders from recording any corners or shots on goal. Belmont Abbey only totaled one shot, which was off target.Â
