SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University men's soccer team posted a 1-1 tie with Jefferson on Wednesday night in a non-conference match at David See Field.
Shippensburg (3-3-3) opened the scoring in the 31st minute, as junior
Patrick Joyner sent a pass that was finished into the net by sophomore
Seth Crabbe for his team-leading fourth goal of the season.
Jefferson (2-4-2) tied it in the 44th minute on Imran Sekagya's goal which came off a rebound.
Freshmen goalkeeper
Ryan Glenlast had six saves in his fourth consecutive start for Shippensburg, while Ram goalkeeper Matteo Crescente had seven saves.
There were 11 cards issued in the match: six to Jefferson and five to Shippensburg. The final 29 minutes of the match were played 10-on-10, as both teams had one player dismissed during the match as a result of being assessed two yellow cards.
This was the first meeting between the two teams since 1996 and just the second time that SU has ever posted a result against Jefferson – both results being ties. It is also the fourth time in five home contests this season that the Raiders have played into overtime.
Shippensburg will play again at 2 p.m. Saturday when it hosts Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division opponent Slippery Rock at David See Field.
