SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University men's soccer team lost 4-2 on Wednesday in a rematch with Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division opponent Bloomsburg at David See Field.
Shippensburg (4-4-3, 2-4-0 PSAC East) got two goals from sophomore
Seth Crabbe, marking his first collegiate multi-goal game. In the 68th minute, senior
Owen Iacobelli sent a corner that was headed in by Crabbe. In the final minute, Crabbe scored again off a back-heel pass from senior
Alex Petty.
SU almost scored in the 73rd minute, as senior
Harry Kershaw was fouled in the box. His penalty-kick opportunity was saved by the Bloomsburg goalkeeper Nathan Slotnick.
Bloomsburg (7-5, 3-4 PSAC) scored three goals within a three-minute span of the first half. In the 25th minute, Liam Harmon scored his first goal of the season off a pass from Anthony Schlee. In the 28th minute, Olly Whitham sent a corner on goal that was headed in by Schlee.
Just 14 seconds after the second goal, Mark Lee sent a pass to Alex Wilsterman who made a move and scored on a breakaway. The Huskies scored again in the 51st minute when Wilsterman backheeled a pass that was finished by Harmon.
There were six yellow cards handed out, two for Shippensburg and four for Bloomsburg, in this physical match.
Shots on goal were even at 8-8, and SU had six corners to BU's two.
Shippensburg will play again at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at Lock Haven at Stern Athletic Complex.
