Sluymer, Reeves win at No. 1 doubles but Warriors claim doubles point

The Shippensburg University women's tennis team concluded its spring break schedule Wednesday with a 7-0 loss to Winona State at Oak Street Community Park in suburban Orlando.

Shippensburg won the No. 1 doubles match, as freshman Maddy Reeves and sophomore Jenna Sluymer teamed up for a 6-4 win. Winona claimed the doubles point, however, with wins at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles.

Reeves nearly claimed a singles win as well, battling to a third-set tiebreaker that was claimed by Winona's Audrey Delich, 10-7. After dropping the first set 6-2, Reeves won the second set 6-3.

Sophomore Kayla Tryanski won seven games in her match at No. 4 singles, while junior Hannah Wieller won four games in the opening set of her match at No. 6 singles. Freshman Cally Papoutsis claimed three games at No. 5 singles.

Shippensburg will return from Florida and travel to face Holy Family at noon Saturday at the Union League Tennis Courts.
