RECAP: Women’s Soccer Returns to Win Column With 4-0 Shutout at Shepherd

O’Donnell, Weigel each credited with a goal and an assist in the win

The Shippensburg University women's soccer team returned to the win column on Wednesday afternoon, scoring three times in the final 25 minutes to pull away from host Shepherd, 4-0, in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division matchup at the Shepherd Soccer Complex.

Shippensburg (4-3-0, 2-3-0 PSAC East) finished with a 12-1 advantage in shots on goal over Shepherd (0-5-1, 0-5-0), and established a 1-0 lead at halftime on the strength of a 31st-minute goal by junior Casey Bell; her header was assisted by sophomore Kelli Dunagan.

The Rams remained close thanks to the goalkeeping of Lulu Fricks and Meghan Byers, each of whom made four saves in the contest.

The Raiders scored three times in a 16-minute span of the second half to pull away. Sophomore K.K. O'Donnell, freshman Lauren Ocker and senior Izzy Weigel each had a goal and an assist during the scoring barrage, beginning with O'Donnell finding the back of the net in the 68th minute off a Weigel assist.

Ocker was credited with her first collegiate goal in the 76th minute when she headed home a ball from O'Donnell. With six minutes remaining, Weigel finished a pass from Ocker. O'Donnell and Weigel each now have two goals this season.

Junior goalkeeper Delaney Shifflett was credited with a save in posting her third shutout of the season. In SU's four victories this season, the Raiders have only allowed one goal.

Shippensburg hosts Kutztown at 1:30 p.m. Saturday from David See Field.
