Swimming Announces 2019-20 Recruiting Class

SU set to add 14 recruits for the upcoming season

SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – Shippensburg University men's and women's swimming head coach Tim Verge has confirmed the addition of 14 student-athletes for the 2019-20 recruiting class.
 
The incoming swimmers will attend SU beginning this fall and will begin practicing with the team upon its return to campus in late August.
 
"This incoming class brings a lot to Shippensburg University," Verge said. "It is a group of people with outstanding academic records and we are excited they have chosen SHIP to prepare them for their futures. As swimmers, I am excited by the potential of the class. I think with our history of helping people improve we will get strong contributions from them for many years ahead."

Lower Dauphin High School: Totaled three varsity letters for the Falcons…received honorable mention on the Mid-Penn Conference All-Star squad as a senior…specialized in the 100-yard backstroke and 100-yard butterfly.
 
About Burger: Full name is Alec Michael Burger…is the son of Eric and Jamie Burger…has a brother, Jack.

Bayard Rustin High School: Totaled four varsity letters for the Golden Knights under head coach John Monaghan…competed at the club level with Golden Ram Aquatics for coach JJ Rudisill…contributed more than 100 points in dual meets as a junior and senior…cited as an Academic All-American…was a member of the National Honor Society.
 
About Bussard: Full name is David Matthew Bussard…is the son of Todd Bussard and Kim Pagliaro Bussard.

Palmyra Area High School: Totaled four varsity letters for the Cougars…competed at the club level with the Palmyra Aquatic Club for coach Cynthia Lyons…set a school record in the 200-yard individual medley (IM) with a PR of 2:00.11…qualified in all four of his seasons for the Mid-Penn Conference Championships and district championships…contributed to a 'AAA' state championships relay for his team…received an AP Psychology award of excellence.

Gross Catholic High School: Totaled three varsity letters for the Cougars under head coaches Docker Hartfield, Richard Draper and Andy Rider…competed on the club level with Swim Omaha for Hartfield…was a three-time state championships qualifier in freestyle events and a two-time state championships qualifier in breaststroke events…placed 13th in the 500-yard freestyle and 14th in the 100-yard breaststroke at the Nebraska State Championships as a senior while contributing to her school's 200-yard freestyle relay…finished 17th in the 100-yard breaststroke and 19th in the 500-yard freestyle at the state championships as a junior while contributing to 12th-place finishes with her school's 200-yard medley and 400-yard freestyle relays…posted a 24th-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle at the state championships as a sophomore while contributing to a third-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay and also swimming on a 400-yard freestyle relay…single-handedly scored all of her school's points for girls swimming as a senior at the state championships…won back-to-back conference championships in the 100-yard breaststroke as a junior and senior…contributed to three conference championships in relays during her varsity career, including the 200-yard medley and 400-yard freestyle as a junior and 200-yard freestyle relay as a sophomore…compiled six Top 5 finishes at the conference championships in her career, including three consecutive fourth-place finishes in the 500-yard freestyle…also competed in archery.
