The Shippensburg University baseball team came up short in a weather-shortened non-conference game at IUP on Tuesday, falling 5-3 to the Crimson Hawks through five full innings from Dougherty Field.
 
Shippensburg (15-24) got a solo home run in the first inning from senior Jack Goertzen and a single from freshman Connor Uhrig for its lone hits of the day, but drew six walks. Goertzen and junior Jacob Pollock hit sacrifice flies in later innings.  
 
Freshman Jared Showalter retired the first six batters he faced, including a pair of strikeouts, but ran into trouble in the third and ultimately took the loss. Redshirt-sophomore Noah Inch pitched two innings of relief, allowing an unearned run and striking out three.
 
IUP (12-25) got five innings from JP Pellis, who struck out three. Three of the four runs by the Crimson Hawks in the decisive third inning came with two outs.
