The Shippensburg University lacrosse team was defeated on the road Wednesday by No. 11-ranked East Stroudsburg, 17-5, in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) matchup from Whitenight Field.

Shippensburg (4-9, 2-7 PSAC) was within two goals of East Stroudsburg (12-3, 9-1) with eight minutes remaining in the first half, as the score sat at 5-3. The Warriors closed the half with four goals, however, as part of an 8-1 run that gave the hosts a 13-4 lead with 15:24 to play.

Shaely Gamble finished with a career-high 12 saves, marking the seventh time this season she has recorded double-digit saves in a match.

Shippensburg recorded more draw controls than East Stroudsburg in the first half, 7-6, but the Warriors posted a 9-2 edge in the second half. ESU finished with twice as many groundballs as the Raiders (26-13) along with a 40-16 edge in shots.

Valerie Hertz led the Raiders with five of SU's nine draw controls and four of SU's 13 groundballs. Gamble and freshman
Hannah Seifried were the only other Raiders credited with multiple groundballs. Newman finished with two draw controls. Seven different Raiders had one caused turnover.
