The Shippensburg University softball team dropped a pair of games on Sunday to conclude its season-opening weekend, falling 8-0 in five innings to West Virginia State and 8-4 to UNC Pembroke.

Against UNC Pembroke (2-2), SU fell down 7-0 but rallied with four runs in the final two innings. In the sixth, Bonawitz singled home freshman
Morgan DeFeo, who doubled, and freshman
Morgan Fetter delivered a pinch-hit infield single to plate Bonawitz.

In the seventh, DeFeo hit a groundout to plate Johnson. Freshman
Sydney Reffner doubled and later scored on a groundout by Hunter.

Taryn Wilson and sophomore
Courtney Coy pitched in the circle. Wilson struck out two in 4.2 innings.
