The Shippensburg University softball team waited through a weather delay of more than seven hours on Saturday before getting in a night game against Southern New Hampshire, but the Raiders dropped a 7-1 contest to Penmen on a dreary, cold day in Myrtle Beach.

Shippensburg (3-4) got three hits in the opening inning against Southern New Hampshire (2-1), including an RBI-double from sophomore
Courtney Coy and singles from juniors
Kayla Bonawitz and
Meghan Klee, but managed just two more hits in the remainder of the game.

The Penmen answered SU's run with one of their own in the bottom of the first before scoring four times in the second to take an early 5-1 lead. Maddy Barone threw a complete game for the opposition, striking out eight Raiders.

Klee finished the day 2-for-3 at the plate for Shippensburg, while freshman
Lexi Corra delivered a pinch-hit single in the seventh inning.
