SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – All 10 members of the Shippensburg University men's basketball team that were in uniform on Saturday scored at least five points, as the Raiders used a 54-point first half to surge past visiting Lock Haven, 100-70, in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division matchup from Heiges Field House.
Shippensburg (19-6, 13-4 PSAC) established a 36-9 lead less than 12 minutes into Saturday's game and never looked back – shooting 67 percent (24-of-36) from the field in the first half and finishing the game shooting 61 percent (11-of-18) from three-point range. SU shot 58 percent overall made 42 field goals – both season bests – scoring 54 points in the paint and getting 36 points from their bench.
The Raiders held a 54-21 halftime lead, having scored 19 points off turnovers in the opening 20 minutes. SU finished with 20 assists, one off a season high, while equaling a season high with 10 steals.
Sophomore
Jake Biss scored a game-high 23 points in just 25 minutes, shooting 9-of-12 from the field including a career-best 4-of-4 from three-point range. Biss added three assists and two rebounds. It was the third straight game that Biss has scored at least 23 points in a game, and marked the fourth time this season he has exceeded 20 points in a game.
Four Raiders finished in double figures. Junior
John Castello scored 16 points on 7-of-13 shooting to complement five rebounds and two assists. Senior
Antonio Kellem had 10 points, five assists and equaled a career high with four steals while not committing a turnover. Kellem has posted double figures in 22-of-25 games this season.
Redshirt-sophomore
Derek Ford scored a career-high 11 points in 14 minutes off the bench, shooting 3-of-4 from the field including a three-pointer and making 4-of-4 from the free-throw line. Ford also had a career two steals. In eight games this season, Ford is 12-of-13 (92.3 percent) from the field, including 3-of-3 from three-point range.
Redshirt-senior
Manny Span had eight points, eight rebounds, two assists and two blocks in 20 minutes. Freshman
Carlos Carter also scored eight points, including a nifty dunk in the first half on an alley-oop from junior
Lamar Talley.
Talley scored seven points and had four rebounds. Redshirt-freshman
Dom Sleva and freshman
Dion Harris II each scored six points and combined for nine rebounds, while junior
Daylon Carter had five points and three assists.
Lock Haven (10-12, 7-10) got 23 points from Matt Cerruti, who shot 9-of-14 from the field. Christian Kelly finished with 21 points, including a pair of three-pointers.
