RECAP: Men’s Basketball Earns Decisive Win in PSAC Opener at The Rock, 92-67

Carter (22 points) and Sleva (20 points) post career highs in the win

Sophomore Carlos Carter had career highs of 22 points and nine rebounds, and redshirt-sophomore Dom Sleva added a career-high 20 points on Saturday as the Shippensburg University men's basketball team posted a lopsided win at Slippery Rock in its Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) opener, 92-67, in action from Morrow Field House.
 
Shippensburg (5-1, 1-0 PSAC) made 11 three-pointers, shooting 50 percent from long range, and committed just nine turnovers. SU led by as many as 29 points in the second half; the Raiders led 46-29 at halftime.
 
Carter posted his second straight 20-point game, making 7-of-9 from the field (including 2-of-3 from three-point range) and 6-of-8 from the free-throw line. He added a late alley-oop dunk to go along with two assists and two steals.
 
Sleva was 6-of-9 from the field, including an electric 5-of-7 from three-point range, and made 3-of-4 at the free-throw line. He added five rebounds and a steal.
 
Junior Jake Biss scored 11 of his 16 points in the first eight minutes, starting out 3-of-3 from three-point range. He added five rebounds and an assist.
 
Sophomore Luke Nedrow posted double figures for the third straight game, totaling 11 points on 5-of-8 shooting. Nedrow added five rebounds and two assists.
 
Senior Lamar Talley had eight points, seven rebounds and four assists. Senior John Castello finished with six points and five rebounds. Junior Kiyon Hardy had four points, three rebounds and three assists.
 
Slippery Rock (2-3, 0-1) shot 41 percent and got to the free-throw line just six times. Revelinio Tholel scored eight points in the first seven minutes before leaving with an injury. Amante Britt had 12 points.
 
Shippensburg remains on the road tomorrow for a 3 p.m. matchup at Edinboro.
