The Shippensburg University women's basketball team began a busy stretch of its schedule Thursday night on the road at Lincoln, dropping an 85-69 decision to the Lions in a non-conference matchup from Manuel Rivero Gym.
Shippensburg (2-2) could not overcome a seven-point second quarter and a season-high 29 turnovers. The Raiders shot 38 percent from the field and 69 percent (20-of-29) from the free-throw line.
Junior
Ariel Jones scored 21 points, making 9-of-11 at the free-throw line. Fellow junior
Destiny Jefferson had 17 points, seven rebounds, three assists and three steals.

Kryshell Gordy and sophomore
Aunbrielle Green each scored nine points. Gordy added eight rebounds, two blocks and two steals. Green had a game-high 13 rebounds, two assists, and two blocks and was 5-of-6 at the free-throw line.
Sophomore
Lauren Mills scored six points on 3-of-5 shooting and had seven rebounds. Fellow sophomore
Lauren Pettis had seven points and five rebounds.
Lincoln (5-1), a squad that has already defeated Kutztown and West Chester this season, got a superlative performance from Kwanza Murray – who scored 41 points on 15-of-20 shooting including an 8-of-10 rate from three-point range. The Lions had 21 assists compared to 18 turnovers and shot 48 percent from the floor.
SU did finish with a 48-26 advantage in rebounds, achieving 15 second-chance points, but LU managed a 40-28 edge in points in the paint.
Thursday's game was the first of four on the road for the Raiders in a six-day span. SU travels west this weekend for Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) crossovers on Saturday at Slippery Rock and Sunday in Edinboro before heading back east to Philadelphia on Tuesday for a non-conference matchup at Jefferson.
