SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University men's soccer team went toe-to-toe with West Chester on Saturday in a festive regular-season finale for Senior Day, but the Raiders came up just short in a 1-0 setback to the Golden Rams from David See Field.
Shippensburg (2-9-3, 2-8-1 PSAC East) honored five seniors beforehand:
Bradley Brickman,
Erik Espinoza,
Alejandro Fernandez,
Joey Gallucci and
Colin Marks.
The lone goal of the match came in the 58th minute when Doug Goitia potted his seventh of the season off a rebound. Daniel Good made three saves for the visitors.
Brickman made four saves on the day, while Gallucci nearly tied the match late with a memorable bicycle kick that was denied by the Golden Ram goalkeeper.
West Chester (12-3-1, 8-2-1) finished with a narrow 5-3 edge in shots on goal and posted a 7-3 advantage in corner kicks.
Shippensburg concludes its season next Friday at Lock Haven.
