SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – Sophomore
Carlos Carter scored a career-high 20 points to lead four Raiders in double figures on Tuesday afternoon as the Shippensburg University men's basketball team used a second-half surge to defeat NCAA Division III opponent Dickinson, 80-60, in a non-conference matchup from Heiges Field House.
Shippensburg (4-1) shot 45 percent from the floor and scored 46 points in the paint but could not pull away from Dickinson (0-2) in the first half, leading by just four points at the intermission. The Red Devils opened the second half on a 5-0 run to take a 39-38 lead, but the Raiders immediately countered with a 17-4 run to establish a double-digit advantage. SU would not trail by less than nine points the rest of the way.
Carter was 7-of-12 from the field, 2-of-5 from three-point range and 4-of-4 from the free-throw line. He added six rebounds, three steals and a pair of assists.
Senior
John Castello was once again efficient from the field, scoring 15 points on 7-of-10 shooting. Castello added a game-high eight rebounds to go along with a career-high five steals and two assists.
Redshirt-sophomore
Dom Sleva continued to contribute in the post, scoring 14 points on 4-of-8 shooting and 5-of-9 at the free-throw line. He made a three-pointer and had four rebounds.
Sophomore
Luke Nedrow was 6-of-6 at the free-throw line, finishing with 12 points, five rebounds and a pair of blocks.
Junior
Jake Biss had eight points, seven rebounds and two assists.
Excluding Carter, the rest of the Raiders were just 1-of-13 from three-point range. The Raiders were 19-of-26 (73 percent) overall at the free-throw line.

Shippensburg hits the road this weekend to begin its Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) schedule, playing crossovers at Slippery Rock on Saturday and Edinboro on Sunday.
