The Shippensburg University women's basketball team shot just 25 percent from the field in the second half on Saturday as it fell at West Virginia Wesleyan, 67-64, in a non-conference matchup from Rockefeller Center.
Shippensburg (2-1) opened the game on an 8-0 run and led by as many as 10 points before West Virginia Wesleyan (2-1) tied the game at 26-26 in the second quarter. The Raiders led by six at halftime, and by as many as 13 points early in the third quarter, but the Bobcats took the lead with 5:31 remaining and would not trail the rest of the way. The hosts scored 27 points in the final quarter.
SU posted a 45-36 rebounding advantage but was 15-of-24 (62.5 percent) at the free-throw line and committed 20 turnovers. The Bobcats had 19 assists and 16 steals.

Ariel Jones led the Raiders in scoring with 17 points, making 8-of-10 at the free-throw line but just 1-of-10 from three-point range. Jones added three rebounds, two assists and two steals.

Destiny Jefferson scored 16 points, finishing 7-of-17 from the field, to go along with three rebounds, three assists and two steals.
Sophomore
Lauren Mills had eight points, five rebounds and two assists. Junior
Kryshell Gordy had six points, nine rebounds and three assists.

Lauren Pettis and
Aunbrielle Green each rotated at center, with Pettis earning the start Saturday. Pettis had five points and eight rebounds, while Green had six points, four rebounds and two assists. Freshman
Treasure George was 2-of-3 from the field.
Wesleyan got 11 points, 16 rebounds, six assists and four steals from Nicole Gilyard, while Brittany Stawovy led all players with 19 points and was 5-of-6 from three-point range. Stawovy added four rebounds, four assists and five steals.
Shippensburg is back in action at 6 p.m. Thursday when it travels to Lincoln for a non-conference matchup against the Lions.
