SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University women's basketball team opened the fourth quarter on a 14-6 run and shot 61 percent from the field in the second half Saturday night to rally and defeat Frostburg State, 80-68, to cap off the 2019 Conference Challenge from Heiges Field House.
Shippensburg (2-0) overcame 18 turnovers by shooting 48 percent from the field, scoring 22 fast-break points and making 24-of-33 (73 percent) at the free-throw line. SU trailed by five points in both the second and third quarter but overcame the skittish start with strong shooting down the stretch.
Junior
Ariel Jones, named the 2019 Conference Challenge MVP, scored 25 points and made 11-of-14 at the free-throw line. She scored 18 of those 25 points in the fourth quarter, equaling Frostburg State's team output over the final 10 minutes.

Destiny Jefferson also earned All-Tournament honors by scoring 21 points on 9-of-15 shooting. Jefferson added six rebounds, two assists and four steals.
Sophomore
Lauren Mills had eight points, four assists and two rebounds. Junior
Kryshell Gordy contributed six points, three rebounds and two assists.
Sophomore
Lauren Pettis had another excellent game off the bench, delivering eight points and seven rebounds in two blocks in 17 minutes. Fellow sophomore
Aunbrielle Green had seven points, eight rebounds and two blocks.
Freshman
Treasure George made both of her field-goal attempts, including her first collegiate three-pointer. Junior
Erin Gibbons had a pair of assists.
Frostburg's Jada Holland earned All-Tournament Team honors with a double-double of 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Shippensburg returns to action next Saturday at West Virginia Wesleyan.
