RECAP: Volleyball Knocks Off Clarion on the Road in Four Sets

SU wins final three sets to set up showdown of conference unbeatens on Tuesday

The Shippensburg University volleyball team overcame dropping the first set on Saturday to win three straight sets and remain unbeaten in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) play, defeating host Clarion by set scores of 21-25, 25-17, 25-18 and 25-20.
 
Shippensburg (14-3, 6-0) hit .197 overall for the match, including a .300 hitting efficiency in the fourth and final set, while Clarion (11-7, 4-2) hit .132 and had 10 blocks. The Raiders served six aces compared to three for the Golden Eagles.
 
Senior Gabriella Johnson delivered a double-double in her fourth consecutive match, totaling a team-high 13 kills and 23 digs. Johnson hit .115 on a team-high 52 attempts and had a hand in two blocks.
 
Senior Samantha Webber had an excellent Saturday, ripping 11 kills compared to just two errors for a .360 efficiency. Webber also had a hand in a team-high five blocks.
 
Junior Gianna Sigado had 10 kills and six digs, while senior Kendall Johnson delivered nine kills and swung .259.
 
Junior Emily Hangen directed the offense to the tune of 45 assists while sneaking in three kills and recording 10 digs. Five kills were recorded by junior Alana Pergine, who hit .200.
 
Senior Megan Forstburg had 16 digs and served two aces, while freshman Maria Lucas also served two aces and had eight digs. Redshirt-freshman Syera McCormick contributed 14 digs and three assists.
 
Shippensburg will now be home for its next eight matches, beginning at 7 p.m. Tuesday against unbeaten Shepherd from Heiges Field House.
