The Shippensburg University field hockey team scored three goals in each half Saturday to get back in the win column, achieving a 6-3 victory over host Mansfield in a non-conference matchup from Van Norman Field.

Shippensburg (4-1) yielded the opening goal to Mansfield (4-2) just 5:19 into the contest but countered with five consecutive tallies to take control. Sophomore
Jazmin Petrantonio notched a hat trick – bringing her season goal total to seven through five contests.

Kelly Shulenberger scored her first goal as a Raider at the 8:41 mark of the opening half to equal the score at 1-1, converting a pass from freshman
Valen Alonso for a tap-in. Petrantonio then scored twice in an 11-minute span to establish a 3-1 halftime lead for the Raiders.

Alonso scored three minutes into the second half to make it 4-1, and then Petrantonio made it 5-1 with a shot that went off a Mountaineer stick into the goal. Sophomore
Molly Herigan scored her first collegiate goal with 11 minutes remaining off an assist from freshman
Jenna Sluymer.

The Mountaineers posted a 10-8 edge in penalty corners and fired 15 shots on goal. Redshirt-senior goalkeeper
Ally Mooney made nine saves in nearly 55 minutes of action for the Raiders, only yielding the opening goal. Redshirt-freshman
Megan Lay was credited with three saves in the final 15 minutes of play.

Overall, the teams combined for 35 shots on goal and 18 penalty corners.
