SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University women's soccer team rallied from an early 2-0 deficit Friday night with three unanswered goals in the first half to defeat Gannon, 3-2, in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) matchup at David See Field.
Shippensburg (5-1-0, 4-1-0 PSAC) scored a trio of goals to stun Gannon (4-3-0, 3-3-0). The Raiders fell behind 2-0 in the first seven minutes of Friday's match, as the aggressive approach of the Golden Knights yielded two goals in a 3:39 span.
SU's rally began just four minutes after Gannon's second goal. At the 10-minute mark, freshman
K.K. O'Donnell sent a ball from the left corner to
Beth McGee, who netted her first goal this year.
In the 27th minute, O'Donnell notched a goal of her own. Senior
Keegan White dropped the ball perfectly to O'Donnell's left to set up O'Donnell's second goal of the season.
The final Raider goal came just 5:44 before halftime. An initial shot by freshman
Kelli Dunagan was saved by the Gannon goalkeeper, but the carom deflected over for
Chloe Flemion to collect and finish for her first goal this season and first career game-winner.
Despite a Gannon advantage in shots (27-12) and corner kick opportunities (2-1), the Raiders were effective in maintaining possession. Sophomore
Delaney Shifflett was solid in net, making a career-high 14 saves.
