RECAP: Men’s Soccer Outlasts Goldey-Beacom, 3-2

Kropnick scores twice, bringing season total to seven through five matches

It was a tale of two halves on Monday for the Shippensburg University men's soccer team, as the Raiders were able to stave off a rally from host Goldey-Beacom to achieve a 3-2 victory in its final non-conference match of the season.

Shippensburg (4-1) scored three times in the first 30 minutes of Monday's match and maintained a 3-0 advantage into halftime. Goldey-Beacom (1-6) countered with two goals in the first five minutes of the second half, but the Lightning could not achieve an equalizer despite a 7-0 shot advantage after the intermission.

Senior Cole Kropnick scored twice – bringing his conference-leading goal total to seven through just five matches this season. Kropnick scored seven minutes in off a cross from junior Colin Marks and added another tally with 15:50 left in the opening half.

Through his last 20 matches dating back to the start of the 2017 season, Kropnick has totaled 17 goals and three assists (37 points).

Two minutes before Kropnick's second goal, senior Patrick Luebben converted a penalty kick for his third tally of the season.

Redshirt-junior goalkeeper Garret Watson was credited with three saves, all in the first half, to achieve his fourth victory of the season.

GBC faced its third Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) foe of the season, having previously squared off against Millersville (L, 0-2) and Mercyhurst (L, 1-2).
