The Shippensburg University field hockey team began the 2018 regular season Saturday with a 3-1 victory over non-conference opponent Limestone in a neutral-site matchup played at Washington & Lee University in Lexington, Va.
Â
Shippensburg (1-0) took a 2-0 lead in the first half on a pair of goals in a five-minute span by freshman

Emily Stauffer centered a pass through the circle to freshman
Jody Boyer, and Boyer knocked the shot in the right side.

Limestone's lone goal came late in the first half, as Gwen Lewis grabbed a rebound off the top post and punched a shot into the goal with 2:03 left before the intermission.
Â
Redshirt-senior
Ally Mooney was stout in goal, making 10 saves in the victory. Seven of Mooney's saves came in the first half.
