SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – The Shippensburg University lacrosse team raced out to a 6-1 lead at halftime on Saturday and used that momentum to snap a three-game losing streak, posting an 11-6 victory over Edinboro in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) matchup from Robb Sports Complex.
Shippensburg (7-8, 3-7 PSAC) yielded the first goal of the game to Edinboro (3-11, 0-10) at the 6:03 mark, but the Raiders then proceeded to hold the Fighting Scots for nearly 40 minutes of play. SU scored the next eight-in-a-row and maintained an 8-1 lead with 15 minutes remaining -- riding that margin to victory.
The game's pace stalled at times, as the two squads combined for 52 turnovers in the contest. SU recorded 14 caused turnovers and collected 40 groundballs – its most in a game since the 2016 season finale.
Senior
Allison Fugate collected 10 of those groundballs, a career high for the senior forward and the most by a Raider in a single game since the 2011 season. Fugate also paced the Raider offense with a hat trick – her second of the season and the sixth of her career.
Junior
