The Shippensburg University baseball team cranked out a season-high 15 hits on Sunday to conclude its four-game weekend in North Carolina, but the Raiders could not extinguish the hot bats of Slippery Rock in dropping a 15-8 decision to The Rock in a neutral-site game from Ting Park.
Â
Shippensburg (2-5) could not overcome a seven-run second inning by Slippery Rock (3-1), as The Rock got three homers and seven RBIs on the day from All-PSAC West First Teamer Christian Porterfield and totaled five round trippers on the day. SU clawed back to get as close as 11-7 entering the bottom of the seventh inning.
Â
Junior

Â
Eight of the nine batters in the SU lineup had at least one hit in the game. Seniors
