SALISBURY, N.C. – The Shippensburg University baseball team could not maintain an early lead and dropped a road game at Catawba, 11-3, on a wet and dreary Saturday from Newman Park.

Shippensburg (0-2) led 3-0 after five and a half innings of play, but Catawba scored 11 runs over the sixth, seventh and eighth innings to defeat the Raiders.Â

Andy Crum started on the bump for SU, pitching five scoreless innings, surrendering just three hits while striking out five.

Grant Hoover led the Raiders offensively with a team-high three hits while also drawing a walk. Hoover was the only Raider to record a multi-hit day.

Cash Gladfelter and
Ty Painter and freshman
Scout Knotts. Knotts's sixth-inning double marked his first collegiate hit.

Catawba (3-8) got a home run and six RBIs from leadoff batter Luke Setzer along. The Indians worked 12 walks on the day.
