The Shippensburg University women's tennis team had a competitive non-conference match Friday at California (Pa.), dropping a 6-1 decision to the Vulcans in an early-evening affair at Roadman Park.

Shippensburg (0-3) got a singles victory at No. 5 from freshman
Mary Kate Mullarkey, the first of her collegiate career. Mullarkey posted a 6-4, 6-0 decision in her victory.

Victoria Galanti went three sets at No. 3 singles, ultimately dropping a 10-4 decision in the third set. Galanti won the opening set with a tiebreaker and claimed nine singles games in her match.

Freshman
Kayla Tryanski was elevated to No. 2 singles and won three games. Fellow freshman
Casey Miller won seven games in a competitive match at No. 6 singles. Miller teamed with freshman
Aubrey Carlin to win a pair of games at No. 3 doubles.
