RECAP: No. 4 Field Hockey Drops PSAC Opener at No. 3 ESU, 3-0

Raiders fall to Warriors for second time this season

The No. 4-ranked Shippensburg University field hockey team clashed with No. 3 East Stroudsburg for the second time this season on Wednesday, this time in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) opener. The Warriors claimed a 3-0 home victory over the Raiders on a clear afternoon at Whitenight Field.

Shippensburg (6-2, 0-1 PSAC) was held without a shot on goal against East Stroudsburg (6-2, 1-0), while redshirt-senior goalkeeper Ally Mooney was credited with two saves. The Warriors finished with a 9-3 advantage in penalty corners.

ESU led 1-0 at the half, scoring 7:03 into the contest by deflecting home a goal sent from outside the scoring arc. It was the only shot on goal for either team in the first half, while the Raiders recorded the only two penalty corners of the opening 35 minutes.

Just 2:56 into the second half, the Warriors made it 2-0 by converting a penalty stroke. ESU scored off a corner with 20 minutes remaining to produce the final 3-0 margin.

UP NEXT: Saturday, 1 p.m. vs. Mansfield.
