The Shippensburg University women's soccer team finished up a long weekend in Erie on Sunday afternoon with a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) loss to Mercyhurst, 2-0, in competition from the MU Soccer Field.
Shippensburg (6-9-1, 5-9-1 PSAC) managed just two shots on goal against Mercyhurst (7-8-1, 5-8-1), who scored twice in the first 24 minutes for the only two tallies of the match. Shots on goal were 8-2 in MU's favor, but corner kicks were 3-2 in SU's advantage.
Freshman
Kasey Doss got the start in goal and made one save. Sophomore
Delaney Shifflett came off the bench in the 27th minute and finished in goal, recording five saves without yielding a goal.
Junior
Kelsy Fitzgerald nearly got SU on the board in the 84th minute, as her shot hit the goalpost.
Sunday's match was postponed from the day before due to lightning and inclement weather in Erie.
