The Shippensburg University women's tennis team dropped a non-conference matchup on Saturday afternoon at Jefferson in its 2017-18 season opener, 8-1, on a sunny day from Abraham J. Salaman Tennis Courts.
Shippensburg (0-1) recorded a victory in the No. 6 singles match over Jefferson (1-2) when junior
Hannah Coath defeated Tabitha Porter, 8-3.

Gabbie Binder won four games in the first set of her No. 2 singles match, but was edged out by Usha Baubiltz, 6-4, 6-0.

Kaylin Gallagher won two games in her No. 4 singles match, but ultimately fell to Eryn Nguyen, 6-0, 6-2.

Madeline Carson teamed up to win four games before falling, 8-4, to Marta Yevstakhevych and Lauren Candia.
Shippensburg will return to action next weekend when it goes on the road for the Bloomsburg Fall Classic.
