Allison Fugate scored a game-winning goal as the final horn sounded Saturday to propel the Shippensburg University lacrosse team to an 8-7 road victory over Edinboro in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) matchup from Sox Harrison Stadium.
Shippensburg (7-8, 3-8 PSAC) won the game with Fugate's last-second shot, narrowly beating the horn after the referees conferred and confirmed a good goal. The Raiders got a caused turnover from senior
Annemarie Cericola in the final 20 seconds, cleared the zone, and raced down the field for the final scoring chance.
SU was held without a goal for the first 15 minutes of play in each half. The Raiders rallied in the first half to gain a 5-2 lead at halftime, but in the second half, Edinboro (2-13, 0-10) scored three straight goals to tie the score, 5-5.
With 10:30 left, junior
T.J. Johnson caged her second of the season to make it 6-5, but the Fighting Scots answered one minute later to make it 6-6. Senior
Ali Harclerode scored her team-leading 30th goal of the season with 6:53 left to put the Raiders up 7-6, but the Fighting Scots once again tied the score, 7-7, with 1:44 to play.
Edinboro rallied from three different deficits on the day to tie the score, but Fugate's goal at the horn proved to be the difference.

Kyra Shank each scored twice on the day, with Shank adding an assist. Senior
Amanda Frank had a goal and an assist, and sophomore
Morgan Stone added a tally. Before her game-winning goal, Fugate was credited with a career-high three assists.
Cericola and sophomore
Valerie Hertz were among the team pacesetters statistically on defense, combining for eight caused turnovers. Hertz led the team with five caused turnovers and had four groundballs, while Cericola led the team with six groundballs.
SU's defense allowed just 14 total shots on the day. Senior
Julia Wise had three groundballs and two caused turnovers, while junior
Makenzie Magnotta had two groundballs and two caused turnovers. Sophomore
Bridgette Morrissey made four saves in the win.

Max Barkley had six draw controls to pace the Raiders.
Shippensburg will conclude its regular season at 1 p.m. Saturday when it hosts Slippery Rock on Senior Day from Robb Sports Complex. Before the game, SU will honor its five seniors: Barkley, Cericola, Frank, Harclerode and Wise.
